Association of Self-Directed Learning Development and Advancement, Taiwan

In life, from a child’s first words to their first steps, the moment they speak their first word or stand up with determination, the outcome of self-learning is evident. The confident expression on their face will surely melt every parent’s heart! Self-learning is the starting point for developing all abilities at every stage of growth. Only by activating self-learning can other abilities, such as focus, resilience, perseverance, and survival skills, be cultivated.

The association recognizes that self-learning is the foundational driving force behind all learning. During the complete transformation of our organization, we have rebranded the “Chinese KUMON Education Association” established in 2002 to the “Taiwan Self-Learning Ability Cultivation and Promotion Association” in August 2020. We hope to focus on “self-learning ability” as the core theme and address relevant issues across all fields and for all ages through project research. We aim to collaborate with domestic and international experts, scholars, and academic organizations to delve deeply into these topics, hoping that the results of our research will contribute to a better life for people.

The logo of the association is inspired by a white bird, symbolizing that the end of one's education journey is not the finish line, but rather the beginning of further development. The red book-shaped wings represent the passion for knowledge, liberating knowledge with the wings of discovery. The blue circular boundary symbolizes a barrier, one that is not limiting but is instead a symbol of breaking free to soar into the boundless sky of freedom.

In addition to defining self-learning ability through research projects, we aim to gradually extend the focus of our studies to all-age education and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), collaborating with external scholars and experts for further exploration. We aspire to promote the lifelong educational spirit of “there is no best, only better,” to continually strive for self-improvement. By strengthening exchanges and interactions with relevant academic institutions both domestically and internationally, we aim to expand the results of talent cultivation, assist in developing lifelong education, and foster the ability and attitude for autonomous action. This will lay a solid foundation for facing the key competencies needed in the future.
